SLPs will learn to train individuals (and supporting parents/caregivers) to understand and employ customized methods for self and emotional regulation.
SLPs will be able understand and explore situations of co-regulation, help parents/caregivers to identify those and reduce dependency.
SLPs will be able to train individuals (and supporting parents/caregivers) to understand how best to achieve happy and calm state of mind (not just complete a task because it has to be done) by working at intrinsic motivation.
SLPs will be able to analyze various situations and explain parents on training individuals to enjoy and complete activities of Daily Living with minimal help and assistance.
SLPs will be able to empower both the individuals as well as parents to recognize triggers/fear that start a meltdown (sensory overwhelm) and how to effectively reduce those.
SLPs will be able to improve levels of communication by achieving understanding of thoughts vs speech vs executive functions.
SLPs will be able to gain an in-depth understanding of the neurobiology (neuroanatomy, neurotransmitters and related physiology) and effectively implement this knowledge in counseling to better explain the concept of neurodiversity.
SLPs will be able to learn and implement customized techniques to manage anxiety in neurodiverse kids and help families recognize the situations to implement strategies and improve quality of life.
